In the first semi-final of Champions League , Atletico Madrid will play with Chelsea.

Atletico Madrid played very well in this season of Champions League , winning all the games at home and almost all the games away. In the quarter-final they played against Barcelona. In the first leg both teams scored each one goal . In the second leg, Atletico Madrid was the favorite to win. They had the home field advantage and the fact that in the first leg they managed to score. The team need it at least 0-0. But Atletico showed why they are the main favorites to win La Liga , and also the Champions League and opened the score in the 5 minute by Koke. Even if Barcelona had a better possession until the end of the game they failed to score any goal.

Chelsea played well in the last two rounds of Champions League. They managed to return the score twice. First time against Galatasaray , when ,after a 1-1 away , they scored 2 goals on Stamford Bridge. Then in the quarter-final they played with Paris Saint Germain. The first leg was played away . Paris Saint Germain smashed Chelsea , scoring three goals, while The Blues only one goal. With Ibrahimovic out due to injury , PSG failed to score any goals in the second leg , while Chelsea believed in it and managed to return the score , scoring exactly the number of goals necessary to go further in Champions League. The hero for Chelsea in that night was Demba Ba , who scored the second goal in the 87 minute.

Both teams met before in the past . Chelsea won one game , Atletico Madrid also won one game and one time it was draw. Last time it was in 2012 in the Uefa Super Cup. Then Atletico Madrid scored 4 goals and Chelsea only one. The game was played on Stamford Bridge.
Now Atletico Madrid has the home field advantage. They played well at home and it will be hard for Chelsea to score or even win this first game. In the last three rounds played away , Chelsea failed to win. They got only a draw with Galatasaray. It is a team that depends very much on home advantage. I think Atletico Madrid will win this game and will score at least 2 goals.

Our tip : Atletico Madrid to win

The first leg of the Europa League semi finals will be played on 24 april 2014.

Sevilla v Valencia
It was a great night for Valencia who managed a 5-0 against Basel , after they lost the first leg by a score of 3-0. Paco Alacer was the hero for Valencia , scoring three goals. Valencia had a good evolution so far in Europa League, losing only two games this season, one in group and one against Basel. Their main goal scorer is Paco Alacer , with 7 goals so far.

Sevilla , like Valencia , managed to return the result against Porto , winning the second leg with the score of 4-1 . The main scorer for Sevilla in this season of Europa League is Kevin Gameiro with 5 goals so far.

Sevilla has now the home field advantage in front of Valencia. Last time when Valencia won on Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium was in 2004. Both teams are very strong when they are playing at home. In the last encounter between these two , both failed to score any goal. Sevilla knows they must win this game ,cause they got small chances in the second leg , Valencia being very strong when they are playing at home. I expect at least 3 goals in this game and a win from Sevilla.

Our tip : Sevilla to win

Benfica v Juventus
Juventus managed a 2-1 againt Lyon in the second leg. It was not a surprise. They were the main favorites in this game , after winning away at Lyon the first leg , score 1-0. Juventus had a good game in this season of Europa League , not losing any game so far , getting only a draw at home with Fiorentina , score 1-1. The main goal scorer for Juventus is Andrea Pirlo with 2 goals so far.

Benfica , like Juventus , never lost a games so far in this season of Europa League , getting only a 2-2 draw with Tottenham at home. Rodrigo Moreno is the main scorer for Benfica in Europa League , with 3 goals so far.

Benfica and Juventus met before in 2012, in a friendly match. Then both teams scored each one goal. Now Benfica has the home field advantage. They won most of the games at home, scoing at home at least 2 goals. Juventus played very good away , not losing a single game and not receing any goal. Juventus is seen by the bookies the main favorite to win this season of Europa League . I think will see few goals in this game, and the game will end in a draw. Both teams will play cautious , knowing that any mistake made could cost in the second leg very much.

Soon we will find who will play in this season of Europa League semi-finals.

Valencia v Basel
Valencia will have now the home field advantage. They will try the impossible against Basel. They have to score at least three goals to hope on a qualification, but I think their chances are very small, after the first leg result. Basel knows everything is possible at they will play to win in this game. Maybe they will be more relax ,after 3-0 at home, but certainly will not threat the match lightly and will try to score at least one goal. Valencia is forced to attack and will be vulnerable in defense. Basel will take advantage of this and I think they will score at least one goal. I go for a draw in this game.
Our tip: Draw

Sevilla v Porto
Porto has a small advantage over Sevilla. They scored one goal in the first leg and now they will play away. Porto scored in each game played away , but they failed to win. Sevilla won most of the games played at home , but they lost their last game with Betis , receiving two goals. Now the main favorite to win are Sevilla. They have the home field advantage and are more motivated. I think they will manage to score at least two goals.
Our tip: Sevilla to win

Benfica v Alkmaar
Benfica is the main favorite to win , and I do not think it will have any problems with Alkmaar. They won the first leg played away, scoring one goal. Benfica scored in each game at home at least two goals. With Paok they scored 3 and received 0 and with Tottenham , both teams scored 2 goals each. Alkmaar played well so far in Europa League , losing only the first game with Benfica. In the last game played away they got a draw with Anzhi , score 0-0. Like I said Benfica has now the home field advantage, they won the first leg so chances are with them . I go for a sure win by Benfica , and I expect at least 2 goals in this game.
Our tip: Benfica to win

Juventus v Lyon
Juventus is the main favorite to go further in Europa League. Juventus won the first leg played away , score 1-0, and now they have the home field advantage. Juventus played well so far in Europa League , winning almost everything, getting only a draw with Fiorentina , score 1-1. Lyon lost the last two games in Europa League , at home with Juventus and away with Plzen. Like I said Juventus is the main favorite to win , Lyon not doing so well lately, especially away.
Our tip: Juventus to win

Good to know:
Juventus won three times the Europa League, last time in 1993, Sevilla two times , last time in 2007, Valencia one time in 2004.

The last race of the Ladies Day at Grand National Festival is the John Smiths Mares Open Flat Race. It is a listed race of 2m1f for mares between the ages of 4 and 6. It is a good oportunity for young horses to show what they can and also a good place to bet.

It is a race where the favorites usually win , very rarely it happened that a horse with higher odds over 10/1 to win. Last year the winner had a share of 9/2.

Legacy Gold was the winner in 2013. The horse was trained than by S R B Crawford and ridden by Mr S Crawford. He had a good start in 2013 winning before Aintree, all the races , last one being at Catterick , a 2 miles flat race-the Racing Again On 26th February Mares Standard Open NH Flat Race.

In 2012 Eleven Fifty Nine also had a good season before winning at Aintree. He ended in the third position the DBS/E.B.F. Mares Standard Open NH Flat Race Final at Sandown Park .

What I am trying to show is that the most horses who won the John Smiths Mares Open Flat Race , obtained good results before coming here ,but is not a rule to follow. We also had in 2011 and in 2010 winners with odds over 20/1.

The jockey with the most wins since 2005 at the John Smith Mares Open Flat Race is R. Walsh, last time when he won, was in 2009 ridden Candy Creek.

Topham Chase is run every year at Aintree in the Grand National Festival. The race is for horses aged five years or older and has a distance of 2m5f and 110 yards. It is a very competitive handicap where anything can happen. The price money for this race was in 2013 120.000 GBP , the first place going home with 67.524 GBP.

In 2013 the champion was Triolo DAlene , a French horse , aged 6 , ridden by B J Geraghty and trained by N J Henderson . His odd was 14/1. Like I said is very hard to predict who would win this race. Nobody expected that the four place in 2009 will manage to win three consecutive times this race in the following years. We`re talking about Always Waining, an Irish horse ,now age 12, trained by P Bowen , who won in 2010,2011 and 2012 .

This year the main favorite to win is Double Ross. Age 8, the Irish horse had a good season so far. Ridden by S Twiston-Davies and trained by N A Twiston-Davies he won in January at Cheltenham the 2m5f Fairlawne Handicap Chase. He also participate in the Trophy Chase, ending in the second place. In this year Cheltenham Festival he was third in the JLT Novices Chase , a 2m4f racecourse.

The second day at Grand National , the Ladies Day, is open with at 14:00 with the Top Novices Hurdle Race. It is a Grade 2 race for horses aged four years or older. The race has a distance of 2 miles and 110 yards and the participants will jump over nine hurdles.

Most of the horses that are taking part in this race have ran previously in the Supreme Novice Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival . The last one who won both races was Brownes Gazette in 1984.

Last winner was My Tent Or Yours ridden by AP Mccoy and trained by NJ Henderson. From then till now this horse showed a good form winning most of the races. He ended this year in the second place at Cheltenham, in the Stan James Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy , also a 2m100y race . If we see him at Aintree he surely is one of the main favorites to win.

The Red Rum Chase is a handicap grade 3 race that is run on the Mildmay course in the first day of this year`s Grand National Festival. It is open for horses aged five years or older, has a distance of 2 miles and the runners have to jumped over twelve fences. Last year the money price for this race was 80.000 GBP , the 1st place winning 45.560 GBP.

The champion last year was Oiseau de Nuit , aged 11, ridden by Brendan Powell and trained by C L Tizzard. Most of the horses that participate in this race have taken part in the Grand Annual Chase at Cheltenham and the Red Rum for most of them is the end of the season . Being a handicap race everything is possible , we can have a 20/1 winner as it was last year or a 5/1 winner as it was in 2002. This is a tricky race for the punters .

Savello won this year at Cheltenham the Grand Annual Chase, ridden by DN Russel and trained by AJ Martin. Before Cheltenham he got the nine place at Fairyhouse in the Underwriting Exchange Dan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase. I don`t know if he will surely participate in this race, but it is between the favorites if he do.

Claret Cloak had a good ending season last year , winning at Towcester the Flexineb Nebulisers Novices Chase , and ending in the third place the Grand Annual Chase at Cheltenham. Trained by Miss E C Lavelle, he could be a possible winner this year at the Red Rum Chase.

He had a good season so far , winning also the William Hill King George VI Chase at Kempton Race in December 2013.

Good to know :
