The PDC World Darts Championship is a world championship competition for the sport of darts, organised by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). It was introduced following a dispute in 1994 with the British Darts Organisation, which has run its own world championship since 1978. The biggest of the PDC tournaments, it traditionally begins in late December, finishing in early January just as the BDO`s version gets underway.

The tournament is currently sponsored by Ladbrokes.com and is now staged at the Alexandra Palace in London after being held the Circus Tavern in Purfleet for its first 14 years.

Only 4 players have won this championship: Dennis Priestley, Phil Taylor, John Part and Raymond van Barneveld. Of these, only Taylor and Part have won it more than once. Taylor has dominated the tournament, winning 13 titles and reaching 16 of the first 17 finals.

Strictly Come Dancing is a British television show, featuring celebrities with professional dance partners competing in Ballroom and Latin dances. The title of the show suggests a continuation of the long-running series Come Dancing, with an allusion to the film Strictly Ballroom. The format has been exported to 32 other countries, and has also inspired a modern-dance themed spin-off Strictly Dance Fever.

The show has run on BBC One since 15 May 2004, primarily on Saturday evenings. An eighth series began on 11 September 2010. A further six stand-alone Christmas Specials have also been produced, in consecutive years from 2004 to 2009. The show has also done 5 charity specials. Since the fourth series, the show has also been aired on the BBC`s high definition channel, BBC HD

BBC Sports Personality of the Year celebrates its 57th anniversary this year and remains one of the most important fixtures on the sporting calendar.

The end-of-the-year television spectacle began in 1954, when it attracted a television audience of 12m, who watched athlete Chris Chataway pick up the main award in recognition of setting the 5,000m world record.

Since Chataway was honoured, there have been 54 sportsmen and sportswomen who have won the coveted title of BBC Sports Personality of the Year, while many others have been recipients of the other BBC Spoty awards.
