Schalke went into the first leg of the Semi-Final encounter against Manchester United with high hopes. They wanted to get a good result that will keep alive their chances to qualify into the final. But things were not as planned. Manchester United dominated the game from start to finish, and the fact that on half time it was 0-0 was beacuse Schalke`s goalkeeper Neuer had a very good game, with a lot of saves.

Manchester United pushed up the throthe a bit in the second half, managing to get two goals, by Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney, securing their place in the final. There is one game to play until the final, but Manchester United has not lost a single game at home this season, and we are sure that they won`t lose against Schalke 04.

This game will be played Wednesday, 4 May 2011 on Old Trafor Stadium in Manchester

What a great game last night between Real Madrid and Barcelona. And what a great plater, Lionel Messi. He decided the outcome of the game with 2 great goals, one from a great pass by Afelly in the 76`th minute and a magnificent second goal, after a persoal effort, taking the ball from 40 meters away from Real Madrid`s goal, and managing to pass 5 oponents to score past Casillas.

Real Madrid played the game trying to defend as well as they can, but a little rough sometimes, thing that took to the elimination of Pepe in the 65`th minute. Barcelona had a great chance to take a serius advantage into the second leg, and they took it. It ended 2-0 for Barcelona and they have boosted their chances to play the final by a great deal.

Real Madrid will come to Barcelona to attack from minute one to try to score a goal as soon as they can. Barcelona will try to defend this 2-0 advantage, and the best way is to try to attack as well and get as many goals as possible.

This game will be played Tuesday 3 May 2011, 20:45 on Nou Camp Stadium in Barcelona.

The 2010-2011 season of the Uefa Champions League is coming to an end. It reached it`s semifinal phase and the four remaining teams are already thinking about the trophy.

It was a great season, with fabulous goals scored and some surprises on the way. We will try to analyze this Champions League season by looking through the eyes of the four teams that are still fighting for the thophy this year.

Schalke 04 v Manchester United

Schalke 04 - The German team brought the greatest surprise in this season, eliminating the current title holders, Inter Milan. They won both games 5-2 in the first leg in Italy and 2-1 at home. They did good in the group stage, winning Group B with 13 point, 3 points in front of Lyon, with Benfica and Hapoel Tev Aviv being eliminated from the competition.

Schalke 04 will surely have a much difficult mission in the semi-final, against Manchester United, but they have exceeded their objective this year, and from this point forward, they have nothing to lose. They will try to playt their game, and if they are lucky they could make it to the final.

Odds to win the competition - 15

Manchester United - They are the clear favourites in the double leg against Schalke 04. They haven`t lost a game in this season of Champions League, winning Group C with 4 wind and 2 draws, ahead of Valencia, Glasgow Rangers and Bursaspor. In the previous rounds, they eliminated Marseille and Chelsea. They only need to keep playing the way they have played so far and the place in the final is theirs.

With the first game eplayed in Germany, Manchester United has to score at least once to try to make their mission more easier in the second leg in Manchester.

Odds to win the competition - 3.61

Real Madrid v Barcelona

Real Madrid and Barcelona offered fans a preview of the double leg from the other Champions League semi-final. They have meet twice, once in the domestic Spanish league, La Liga Primera, it ended 1-1 and once in the Copa del Rey when Real Madrid won 1-0 in extra-time by a goal from Christiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid - has an increasing morale over Barcelona, by winning the first trophy of the year, but still Barcelona remains Barcelona and one game is very different from another. This is a double leg and strategies can be made based on the result from the first leg.

Real Madrid will play the first game at home and the most important thing will be to stop Barcelona to score. A goal or more scored by Barcelona will diminish Real Madrid`s chances to make it into the final.

Odds to win the competition - 4.35

Barcelona - Despite having a good strategy and playing well in the Copa del Rey final, Barcelona lost the tropy to rivals Real Madrid. That trophy was an objective for Barcelona this year, and that being lost now, they have to concentrate on the remaining availiable trophyes, Spain Champions and Champions League.

With the domestic Championship almost in the bag, the Champions League becomes top priority. Barcelona needs to score in the first leg to make their task more easier, and with the players they have available, they will probably score. Barcelona is the favourite to win the competition this year, and they will do their best to get into the final and win the trophy.

Odds to win the competition - 2.2

The Irish Grand National is a National Hunt chase in Ireland, opened to horses aged five years or older. It is run at Fairyhouse over a distance of about 5,800 metres and during its running there are 24 fences to be jumped. It is a handicap race, and it is scheduled to take place each year on the Monday after Easter.

Beautiful Sound could go off as the favourite for the Fairyhouse showpiece at Easter and he will be out to justify his tag if he makes the field. The ground will be gruelling for the race and will provide a real test for all the Irish Grand National Runners.

Being the biggest steeplechase means of course that the race attracts considerable interest from both racing followers and racing punters and there are numerous betting options from a wide range of bookmakers.

Top Irish Grand National runners

Beautiful Sound - Best odd: 8.36 First option in the bookmakers opinion, he ies in a very good form, won the last race run here on this track back in January. He came third in Chaltenham on 17 March this year.

Few if none predicted the outcome of the first leg between Inter Milan and Shalke. And can someone remeber when any team scored 5 goals against Inter on Giuseppe Meazza? That must be so long ago. But still, Shalke managed to get a great 5-2 victory that pretty much gets them to the semi-finals.

In the previous run Inter managed to turn the result againt another German team Bayern Munich, after loosing 0-1 at home in the first leg and after being led 2-1 at half time, they won 3-2 in the end and qualified to this stage. It is hard to believe that they can manage to turn a 2-5 result against them.

Manchester United won both legs of the quarterfinal against Chelsea 2-1 at home and 1-0 away from home, and they looked to control both of the games from start to finish. Against Shalke, Manchester United will have a great chance to qualify to the final, and have a chance at the trophy.

After the first leg of the quarterfinals, Barcelona and Real Madrid got very convincing wins and both teams took a very serious option to qualify for the semi-finals. Read Madrid won 4-0 against Tottenham and Barcelona won 5-1 against Shakhtar Donetsk. There are little hopes for Tottenham and Shakhtar Donetsk to turn back the scores in their favor.

For the fans that watched the two games, it surely was a delight. Both Barcelona and Real Madrid played very good football, with solid defence and stunning attack. Scoring 4 and 5 goals in one game in the quarterfinal stage of the Champions League, shows the strenght of the teams and the skill of players and coaches.

In the second leg, after the first results, surely both coaches will try to spare the best players and maybe throw some substitutes in the game. This could be an extra chance fot Tottenham and Shakhtar, but it is very unlikely that they cound turn up the scores in their favor. Probably both games will end as a draw.

Football fans and specially Barcelons and Real Madrid fans will be plased in the following month. The two theams will probably play 4 games against each-other, 2 sure games in the La Liga and in the Copa del Rey final, and 2 almost sure games, in the double leg of the Champions League semifinal.

This game will be played on Wednesday 27 April 2011, on Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid

After the second legs of the quarterfinals:
Shakhtar Donetsk - Barcelona 0-1 - As expected, Barcelona went to Ukraine to defend that 5-1 from the first leg. They played well, letting the Urainian team attack and trying to score on counter-attacks. Messi scored the only goal of the game, after a great action by Dani Alves. Shakhtar missed a lot of opportunitiesm but in the end Barcelona proved to be the getter and more experienced team, and got into the semi-finals.

Tottenham - Real Madrid 0-1 - Same as Barcelona, Real Madrid has a confortable advantage from the first leg, and they went to London to try to conserve this advantage. They defended well and a goal by Cristiano Ronaldo grought them another victory and a deserved place in the semi-finals.

After 2-5 in the first round, current champions Inter Milan have little hopes to qualify for the next stage. They need a 4-0 victory and there are little chances for this to happen.
