12 rounds have passed from the Formula One Championship 2011 season, and it seems that we already have a World Champion. Sebastian Vettel leads the championshi with 92 points in front of second place, Red-Bull Renault team mate Mark Webber. 7 rounds still left in this year`s season, and if things go as they went until now, Vettel will have no problems getting the second consecutive World title.

The next round will be held at the Monza circuit, a circuit that particulary doesn`t suit the Red Bulls, but this was said about the Belgian Grand Prix and Red Bull got a double there last week.

Race Information

Laps: 53
Circuit length: 5.793 km
Race length: 306.720 km
Number of times held: 80
First held: 1921
Most wins (drivers): Michael Schumacher - 5
Most wins (constructors): Ferrari - 19

This circuit is famous for bringing bad luck to the winning driver. In the past 20 years, only Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher have won the Italian Grand Prix and became champions in the same year. Last year, Fernando Alonso won the Italian Grand Prix, and lost the title in the final race.

If Vettel manages to start the race from pole, it will be hard to defeat him on track, as proven in the previous races. Will he became the only third driver in history that manages to win the Italian GP and then win the World Championship, or will he settle for a podium placement, points that will bring him closer and closer to the title.

Golf as a sport has a long history and it’s played by a huge variety of players, both professionals and amateurs. It is a ball sport, in which competing players use many types of clubs to punt balls into a series of holes on a golf course, by using the smallest number of strokes. Golf is one of the few ball sports that doesn’t requires a standardized area, the games being played on golf courses, each of them with a unique design, although all typically consist in nine or eighteen holes. Golf competitions are generally played for the lowest number of strokes by a player, known as stroke play, or the lowest score on the individual holes during a round, by a player or a team, known as a match play.

There are a lot of tournaments disputed all over the year in professional or amateur golf. Among those, we selected the top 4 important tournaments, judging by the value of the players present and the prize pool.

The Masters Tournament – held in the second weekend in each April is hosted as an invitational tournament and it’s player at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, United States. This tournament is the only major tournament that is played on the same course every year. This tournament has the smallest field invited of all the majors, generally under 100 players, but as all the majors, it ensures entry for all golfers in the World’s top 50. Former champions in this tournament have a lifetime invitation to compete, and also included in the field we can find the current champion of the major amateur championship and most of previous year’s PGA Tour winners. The courses distinguish themselves by being very difficult, with severely undulating fairways and greens, and punitive use of lakes and creeks.

The US Open Championship is held in the third weekend in June every year and it’s played at various locations in the United States. This tournament is well known for being played on very difficult courses with tight fairways, thick and high rough and challenging greens, placing a great value on accuracy, especially on the approaching play. Therefore, the US Open is rarely won with a score much under par. The entry to half of the 156 person field in this tournament is assures by qualification tournaments all over the year, held in US, Europe or Japan. The U.S. Open is opened for participation for women or junior players as well as long as they are a professional or meet the amateur handicap requirements. If players are tied up after the four rounds, a 18 hole playoff will be played.

The Open Championship – is held in the third weekend in July and it is played on a links course at one of nine various locations in the UK. In the United States, this tournament is known as the British Open. This tournament carries the prestige of being the original “Open” championship and is respected for maintaining the tradition of links play ever since the game was first invented in Scotland. This is a very difficult tournament, weather having an important role on the field’s score almost every year. Qualification tournaments are held on all continents, giving the chance to the leading golfers from around the globe to enter this tournament. Several qualifying tournaments are held as well around UK in the weeks prior to the tournament. Several recent champions were unknown players who came through one of these qualification stages. The champion will receive the famous Claret Jug, a trophy that dates back to 1872.

The US Open in the last of the big smal tournaments of the season. It is hosted at Flushing Measows in New York and it offers a staggering prize money of 21 Million $ in total with about 1.5 Million $ for the winners in the singles competitions.

This season has been one of the most competitive season in the men`s game, with tle ladies being equally competitive. All the big "guns" in the men`s tournament will be here, let`s take a look at the top favorites and evaluate their chances.

Novak Djokovic The last year has been a great year for Djokovic. He currently hold twou out of the four geand slams of the season, Australian Open and Wimbledon, and he will be the man to beat at this year`s US Upen. His hise in the ATP ranking might be surprising for many, but playing in the same "era" asn Nadal and Federer and holding already 3 major championship titles at 24 years, will make Djokovic go down as one as the all time gerat players.

Despite not winning the tournament not even once, Djokovic got at least into the semi-finals in the last 4 years. He was in the final in 2007 and in 2010, but lost both againt Fereder and Nadal. The hard court is his favorite and it will be great for Djokivic if he can get the third grand slam title this year.

Rafael Nadal If anyone can get in Djokovic`s way to the title, it will be Rafael Nadal. Nadal has an amazing record of 10 major titles at tle age of 26 and surely assured his place in the history books of tennis.

He holds this year`s French Open title, the only one which eludes Djokovic. HE displayed great tennis at Wimbledon to finish as runner-up, with most believing that he had to endure a small injury.

Nadal says that he is 100% fit now and his intention are to get the his second Grand Slam of the year. But, if he wants to lift that trophy over hs head, he has to defeat the Serbian tennis machine.

Roger Federer If Roger would retire tommorow, he will go down as one of the greatest tennis players ever. With 16 major titles to his name, he`s one all time great player.

Over the past season, his form was not what everyone expected, but he still managed to get a Grand Slam title, the Australian Open in 2010.

We could say that there is a change of generations at the top of the ATP Rankings at the moment, but Feredere surely still has the ability needed to win at US Open. His form has been good lately, not like the Fereder we used to know, but a dissapointed quarter-final at Wimbledon will drive him o challenge this year`s US Open title.

Andy Murray The hard courts of Flushing Meadows suits the play of Andy Murray, but he has only a final presence in 2008 at US Open. Murray has the ability to fight with the best, but if he is good enough to beat Djokovic, Nadal or Federer remains to be seen.

Ths form of the "top three" could look overpowering for Andy Murray for the moment, but if there is one thing that Murray doesn`t lack, is fighting spirit. He will fight until the final ball of the game hoping for a top placement in this tournament.

In the Women`s Tournament, two-time defending champion Kim Clijsters and fellow 2011 Grand Slam champions Li Na (French Open) and Petra Kvitova (Wimbledon) are on top of the women`s favorites. Former US champions Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Serena Williams are also in the field. It till be a evru disputed tournament also, with great games.
