Cheltenham Gold Cup is a Grade 1 National Hunt, opened for horses aged 5 or older. It is run at Cheltenham Racecourse over a distance of 5331 metres, and during this race the runners have to jump over 22 fences. It is the highlight of Cheltenham festival, with a total price money of 575 000 GBP. Last year champion was Coneygree, age 8, ridden by Nico de Boinville and trained by Mark Bradstock. In the past three years all runners were all age 8. Since 2005, Paul Nicholls followed by Nicky Henderson , won most of the time this race at trainers and at jockeys , Barry Geraghty and Ruby Walsh. This year the main favorite to win is Djakadam. Ridden by Ruby Walsh and trained by WP Mullins, he won in 2015 the Goffs Thyestes Handicap Chase and the John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase, but this year in 2016 he fell at BetBright Trial Chase. His main rival is Don Poli, who I think has more chances. He had a very good year in 2015, winning three times. Ridden by BJ Cooper and trained by WP Mullins, he won in December the Lexus Chase, a 3 miles race. He has a much better form the Djakadam, this is the way I will go with him.

Cheltenham Gold Cup best betting options - Thistlecrack ended on first place in 2016 in all the races he attended. In the previous Cheltenham Festival he won the Ryanair World Hurdle. CL Tizzard trained this horse very well. Is a great horse with a very good form. In 2017 he got second place in the BetBright Trial Cotswold Chase, ridden by T Scudamore. Cue Card is another option to win Cheltenham Gold Cup. Trained also by CL Tizzard, he participated in the previous Cheltenham Gold Cup, but he fell. He ended 2016 on podium , getting second place in the 32Red King George VI Chase at Kempton Park. Is good to mention here also the 7 years old horse Sizing John. He is recently in a good shape. In 2017 he won all the races so far : the Ladbrokes Ireland Kinloch Brae Chase and the Stan James Irish Gold Cup . At the 2016 Cheltenham Festival he ended second in the Racing Post Arkle Challenge Trophy Chase.
