After a period in which it was overshadowed by the rest of Europe`s top leagues in terms of the amounts invested in transfers, Serie A returns to the forefront. In the first period of this season, the top teams in Italy have already spent over 170 million Euros getting new players.

The 2011-2012 was a very disputed season with Juventus and AC Milan fighting for the trophy until the last rounds. Juventus won the trophy in the end, but the star of the League was Milan`s player, Zlatan Ibrahimovic who become the leading goalscorer with a total of 28 goals scored.
Here is the top three goalscorers in the 2011-2012 season of the italian Serie A.
1. Zlatan Ibrahimovic - Top scorer in the Italian Serie A 2011-2012 season with a total of 28 goals. He is one of the best players in the worls, but his temperamental behavoiur and loss of concentration stoped him to became the best player in the world. He now plays for AC Milan, but a move to PSG is probable this summer.
2. Diego Milito - The second player in the top five goalscorers top with a total of 24 goals. He plays for Internazionale Milano and he is one of the best stikers in the Serie A. He is a very agile player that times perfectly his appearence in front of the opposite goal line.
3. Antonio di Natale - A very good striker in the Italian Serie A, he is currently playing for Udinese. He scored 23 goals this season. He has a powerful kick and a great header. He can keep good control of the ball and he is an excellent free-kick taker.
3. Edison Cavani - Sharing the third place in the goalscorer`s top we find Edison Cavani from Uruguay. He also scored 23 goals this season for Napoli, most of the goals in very important games. he is a powerful striker that he is not afraid to put his head on a cross. He is a natural finisher when in front of the opposing goal.

The Italian Serie A will have it`s 81st season since establishment and only the third season since thei organized under a league comitee separated from Serie A. The season will start with round one on 25 August 2012. The winners of the last season and the itle holders are Juventus.
The division is formed by 20 teams that will contest for the trophy with 17 teams also playing in the 2011-2012 season and three teams promoted from Serie B.
This season we will see the return of Torino, Pescara and Sampdoria in Serie A. Torino is back after 3 years, Sampdoria after only one year and Pescara after 19 years in the lower divisions.
It looks like we will have a battle for the title between the same two teams as last season. Juventus and AC Milan offered a great fight last season and this season they announce the same intentions to win the league. Inter Milan, Lazio, Napoli or AS Roma could also get involved in the battle for the trophy.
